2021 COVID POLICIES / PROCEDURES

Masks and Social Distancing

As of August 20, 2021, Gallatin and Madison County have no Covid-19 restrictions.   But, here are some things we want you to consider:

  1.  If you are having symptoms of Covid-19, please DO NOT come.  Email natalie@bigskybiggie.com and ask for a deferral to 2022.
  2.  The entire event will occur outside, and we support you and respect your decision if you choose to wear a mask.  Every racer of the 50 and 30 mile course will receive a branded Big Sky Biggie + Lone Peak Physical Therapy Buff.   This is going to come in handy for several reasons:   It’s cold in the morning, it helps prevent the spread of germs and protects against low air quality.
  3.  Though there are currently no mask-mandates for business in the county, some local businesses might still require or prefer you to wear a mask inside, especially if you are unvaccinated. If a business requests that you wear a mask, be respectful to fellow customers and staff members and abide by the businesses’ rules. This is done as a means to keep the community safe, so please play your part!
  4.  Not vaccinated yet?   HealthCare Connections will be at the race venue on Saturday afternoon.   We encourage you to stop by their big bus at the finish line and say thank you for their sponsorship, service to the community and ask any questions you want about immunization.  HealthCare Connections is Bozeman Health’s mobile screening program – offering free health screenings, immunizations, and services to adults across southwest Montana.

The mantra here is this:   Do whatever makes you feel comfortable – mask or no mask.   Everyone’s comfort level is different.   Manage yourself, and respect those around you.

Feed Stations

Our Feed Stations are going to work like normal (pre-COVID), but our volunteers will be taking extra precautions (wearing gloves and wearing masks if they have not been vaccinated).    There will be large jugs of water and Hammer Nutrition product.   You can fill your own bottles or camelbak if you prefer, or you can hand to a volunteer to fill for you.   There will be race food items at each Feed Station.  Some items will be individually packaged, but most of the food likely will not be.  If the idea of grabbing a handful of salty pretzels off a plate freaks you out, then please just plan to carry your own food.

The mantra here is this:   Do whatever makes you feel comfortable – mask or no mask.   Everyone’s comfort level is different.   Manage yourself, and respect those around you.

Awards / Post-Race Events

Awards will be at 2pm at the Start/Finish Venue, or as soon as we have full podiums for Overall or Age Group Categories.

We will have individually wrapped wraps for racers and Map Beer flowing from kegs.   If you don’t like the idea of someone else preparing your food, or filling up your beer from the keg, then please bring your own post-race meal, snacks and beverages.
